BCX is seeking a Database Administrator (Oracle) to join the EIS Department within the Operate Business Unit. The role is focused on maintaining a secure, stable, and high-performing production database environment. The successful candidate will ensure database recoverability in the event of hardware failure or disaster and will provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior database administrators. This hybrid remote position is based at the BCX Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure integrity of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) per BCX standards
• Handle service requests, incidents, and problems using the BCX Remedy system
• Monitor database performance, conduct trend analysis, and optimize performance
• Build and maintain a Known Error Database (KEDB) and support structure network
• Manage and test new database release versions through UAT and QA processes
• Monitor space, memory, and CPU utilization, executing trend analysis and alerts
• Develop and report on availability/uptime metrics
• Implement and monitor an effective backup strategy and disaster recovery (DR) plans

Qualifications

• NQF Level 6: 3-year Degree/Diploma/National Diploma
• NQF Level 4: Grade 12 with 5 years’ experience
• 3 years’ experience in Oracle Database Administration
• 5 years’ experience in Oracle Database Administration (with Grade 12)
• Valid Driver's Licence
